Passport

So if you have been following this blog, you will know that the first goal I thought of was going to Paris. I’ve only been out of the country a few times but my passport was long expired. Long enough expired that I had to fill out a brand new application. No renewals for me.

This was one of those easy goals like the 1,000 piece puzzle. And like the pizzle, this simple goal dragged on for months.

I located the necessary forms online and printed everything for me and Husband. It sat around our house for long enough that I misplaced it.

I was planning on filling out the paperwork and getting my passport photo taken around Christmas, when I have some time off of work. But then I got a stye in my eye and didn’t want to memorialize that in a photo that would follow me around the globe. So I put it off again. Finally around the 4th of July, I had some more time off work, so I filled out the paperwork, got the photo taken and headed to the post office.

The first problem I encountered was that I forgot my birth certificate at home. So I went home and went back to the post office. The passport guy had gone to lunch and then asked me to come back. Two hours later I went back and discovered that I had printed the paperwork two-sided and the Federal Government won’t accept it like that. It had to be single-sided. So they gave me a new form and I re-wrote it all. Then I paid some money and it was all done!

About a month later, it came in the mail, all shiny and ready to be used!

It took over a year to actually go and apply at the Post Office, but once I did, my passport came in the mail 4 weeks later!
