Is This Marathon Thing Ever Going to Be Done?

My last post about marathon training really scared me. It was August and I could barely run a few miles. I went to the doctor, got some medicine for my asthma, finally felt better and started training hardcore. (Hardcore for me is waking up at 4:45am to run, even on the weekends. It’s not running really fast or anything cool. It’s basically just being hardcore enough to wake up early and run in the dark).

Marathon Training: Preparing for My 1st Half

The week following the 10K, I realized that as awful as it was, I really need to stop being depressed about it because the half marathon was happening in 5 weeks. So I needed to pick up the training. I created my own little workout plan running a few days a week with one long run that would increase to 13 miles by the half marathon.

Running a Marathon

Running a marathon seems like a pretty solid bucket list idea, right? I would have to guess that it is one of the most universal bucket list items. This goal ended up on my list for several reasons: (1) I had begun running the year before and it gave me a significant boost in self-confidence; (2) my husband had already completed a marathon and that was pretty cool; and (3) it was 2013 and the Boston Marathon bombings had just happened.  Continue reading Running a Marathon
